1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. It allows the site to remember certain information from one page to another or from one visit to another.

This policy also covers similar technologies that are not technically cookies but which access your device or store information on it: localStorage, sessionStorage, invisible pixels, web beacons and digital fingerprinting.

We distinguish between:

  • session cookies, deleted when you close your browser;
  • persistent cookies, stored for a set period;
  • first-party cookies (placed by seemy.be) and third-party cookies (placed by another domain).

2. Legal framework

The placing and reading of cookies on your device is governed in Belgium by:

  • Article 10/2 of the Law of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data, which transposes Article 5.3 of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC;
  • Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), for the processing of personal data arising therefrom.

Principle: any cookie that is not strictly necessary for the service you have expressly requested requires your prior, free, specific, informed and unambiguous consent. Refusing must be as easy as accepting, and you may withdraw your consent at any time.

3. Our principles

  • No advertising trackers. We do not use Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Google Ads or any other advertising network.
  • No profiling. We do not build behavioural profiles and do not sell browsing data.
  • No cookies before consent. Non-essential cookies are only placed after your explicit agreement via the banner. Continuing to browse does not constitute consent.
  • Refusal by default. Until you have made a choice, only strictly necessary cookies are active.

4. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential to the operation of the website and to the provision of services you have requested. They do not require your consent (exception under Article 10/2, § 2 of the Law of 30 July 2018).

NameIssuerTypeDurationPurpose
seemy_consent seemy.be First-party 12 months Stores your cookie consent choice and serves as evidence of that choice
XSRF-TOKEN seemy.be First-party Session Anti-forgery token (CSRF), required for the secure submission of forms
seemy_session seemy.be First-party Session Application session required for the contact form and the simulator
simulator_state seemy.be First-party (localStorage) Session Saves your current configuration in the price simulator

5. Consent-based cookies and services

5.1. Audience measurement — Google Analytics 4

NameIssuerDurationPurpose
_gaGoogle13 monthsVisitor identifier, session distinction
_ga_XXXXXXXXGoogle13 monthsGA4 session state persistence

What we measure: number of visitors, pages viewed, session duration, traffic source, device type, approximate location at country and region level.

Our configuration: IP address anonymisation, data sharing with other Google services disabled, advertising signals (Google Signals) disabled, user data retention period limited to 14 months.

Publisher: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. A transfer to the United States is possible — see section 7.

5.4. Google Fonts

The typefaces used on the website are sourced from the Google Fonts library.

5.5. Anti-spam protection — Google reCAPTCHA

The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which analyses your browsing behaviour to distinguish a human from a bot. Google receives your IP address, browser data and interaction information in the process.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our forms against automated abuse (Art. 6.1.f GDPR). The service is only activated when you interact with the form, not on every page load.

6. Managing your preferences

Via our banner

On your first visit, a banner allows you to accept or refuse non-essential cookies, with direct access to detailed settings by category. You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" at the bottom of each page. Your choice is stored for 12 months, after which the banner is shown again.

Via your browser

Every browser allows you to block or delete cookies:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the contact form and simulator from working correctly.

Other options

  • Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends this signal, we treat it as a refusal of non-essential trackers.
  • Google Analytics opt-out extension: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

7. Transfers outside the European Union

Some services described above (Google) may transfer data to the United States. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (European Commission adequacy decision of 10 July 2023) for certified providers, or otherwise on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

These transfers only take place after your consent, except for reCAPTCHA, which is activated at the time of form submission on the basis of our legitimate interest.

8. Cookies on SeeMy client websites

This policy applies solely to the seemy.be website.

Websites we build for our clients have their own consent banner and their own cookie policy. For these websites, the client is the data controller and MV Studio SRL acts as the technical processor. The compliance tools we deliver (banner, automatic tracker scan, generated page) are technical aids and do not constitute legal advice; each client is responsible for verifying that their configuration matches their actual processing activities.

9. Changes

We update this policy whenever a cookie or third-party service is added, changed or removed. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. A tracker scan is conducted at least twice a year, and after every significant technical change to the website.
